These are a Nylon Mesh Trawl that has been developed and improved in conjunction with key personnel from several of New Zealand’s major Fishing Companies.
This Trawl’s configuration has empowered smaller Vessels to tow Semi-Pelagic Trawls.
Traditionally this has been the domain reserved for only the larger Vessels.
In fact, with this innovative design, a good percentage of New Zealand’s Hoki catch is now taken by these types of Trawls on smaller Vessels.
An interesting factor with these Trawls is that the smaller versions (MNP12) are suitable for Vessels with as little as 180HP (134kw), and the mid-range, the MNP33 and MNP34 can be used on Vessels between 450-2500HP (336-1866kw).
